One possible reason that users mentioned is, wrench means settings, but the this icon now does more than controlling settings. Why this change, all of a sudden? The wrench icon oh, sorry, the hot-dogs icon is something we all click almost every day. This change is not as huge as the logo change, which changed the whole identity of Chrome. How will users react to this change then? Even though I liked it, I heard people saying, if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it! I remember a lot of people complaining about thew new icon. They changed the Chrome icon midway in March 2011.įor many, such a huge change was really surprising. Making such huge changes are not new to Chrome users and the Chrome team.
The latest Chromium builds on OSX has replaced the settings icon with the new hotdog! We will soon this change coming to Window builds and pretty soon on Chrome stable versions.
